Their swings may look weird, but they still had all 5 Simple Keys®. Additionally, they really aren't all that weird when you get down to it. Palmer looked awfully normal until the follow-through. Trevino just aimed well left (which effectively moves the ball back in your stance, which helps to explain why he hit the ball low), and Lee's pre-shot routine was quirky too.

Right, it's not like they were making a 60 degree turn or hitting shots with their weight back.

Are there any better options out there?

I taught private music lessons for 35 years. Not exactly the same as golf lessons, but close enough.

My philosophy for students, was that I might not have been the best choice for every student, but every student can learn and get better. There were several of my students over the years whom I sent to other teachers simply because I felt there were better options for them, or they weren't learning from me.

The answer to your question is NO.

You need to find a teacher who fits the following criteria:

1) Someone who has a philosophy of teaching that coincides with your needs as a golfer

2) Someone who challenges you to become better and sets a course of action to achieve this goal

3) Someone who you respect and want to visit on a regular basis for self improvement

Best wishes on achieving your golf goals. :smartass:

Google "learn to golf backwards" and see if that might interest you. It's not a widely accepted way to learn the game, but I have seen it work, and used it myself to get back to decent game after an accident derailed me for several months. Couldn't hurt to look at it.

I prefer to learn it forwards. It gets awkward when you run into the group behind. . .
