This is a way out in left field solution, thinking about the lost golf bag problem. If a player really wanted to absolutely positively guarantee (some of you will get what I just did there) that your clubs arrive w/you to a tournament, remove the heads, carry on the shafts and heads with you, the shafts should fit in the overhead bin diagonally? Or usually, there's a little closet in the front of the plane to store a bunch of shafts? There's plenty of equipment guys to reassemble the clubs once you get to the course. Obviously something wrong with this as no one is doing it, but just thinking out of the box.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

Interesting thought Steve. I've done that with a guitar. American lost one of mine once. It went to Spain, I went to Boston. After that, I got a travel size Baby Taylor and always carry it on.

You could do that with the woods, but the irons would be more of a challenge.

We did the same thing with the wife's wedding dress. Wife wasn't about to cram that thing into a suitcase so we carried it on and they put it in the closet. Not sure what would happen once there were more than, say, a half dozen golfers on said flight though. The real solution is Netjets! ;)

I don't think it would work too well.

1. Shafts are longer than acceptable carry-on dimensions.

2. Every time you re-epoxy the heads you need to sand them a little bit each time to get a good bond. The shafts would fit too loosely in no time doing that every week. You would need every club to have a screw in hosel like an adjustable driver to make it work. Though I'm guessing either Taylormade or Callaway will be rolling out irons with this feature in the near future.
