Still focusing on the working on the right elbow and keeping it bent through impact. After much recommendations, I am slowing it down and working on the 1/2 swing. Also, changed a little bit on the takeaway and trying to one-piece takeaway with a late wrist hinge, which seems to help with the impact and my elbow issue. Here is a couple 7-iron shots with both views.

  • 2 weeks later...

Working today with the 8-iron in the backyard before my fingers went numb (9 degrees here today with some snow on the ground.... hard pan ground that is frozen stiff). Focus was on the bringing my head more down on the downswing... I felt like I was doing that, but the video shows something different. Still working on this and the right elbow bent up to impact.

This drill is with the 8-iron where I am focusing on hip turn and rotating through the swing to finish. So, with these 1/2 swing and 1/2 speed drills, I am just focusing on the hip and shoulder turn and making sure that the hands are ahead of the club shaft through impact.

This is a number of driver views (FO and then DTL). On these videos, I have been focusing on the hip turn. I noticed that if I flare the right foot out a tad more, I can get a better hip turn. Working on this and also following the ball after impact. Any suggestion and input is always appreciated. Thanks for watching!

I'd also straighten that right leg when you go through impact for more power.

Thanks much for the input. I'll work on that.

New driver swing with slight corrections on some of the errors I picked up on from my last post. Focus on steady head, right elbow and hip/shoulder turn and trying to watch the right knee bowing on the follow through. I specifically choose the FO view to review these elements. Any and all comment and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

New videos after working on my Evolvr specific items.... shoulder turn and bringing the arms more across the body on the follow-through (I was throwing the club more out to the right). I think that practice came from trying to avoid the fade/slice with an inside to out swing. I also added a bit more hip turn and earlier wrist hinge to help with this action. I know these all nee a lot more work. As always, any comments or suggestions are much appreciated.

Working on the driver with hip and shoulder turn and focusing on the follow-through coming across the body (rather than out to the right). Really... I was testing this with using Analyzr Pro and publishing direction to You Tube.

This is a new pre-shot routine I started with my two priority focus items.... takeaway (not keeping the club face too closed at A2), and, not lifting up the left shoulder on the downswing (keeping a consistent rotation). There are still some issues with this part, but its a start. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Focus here is two-fold.... takeaway: shoulder turn and trying not to keep a closed club face at A2, and shoulder turn through impact (avoid swinging out to the left). Complete the body turn through impact. Takeaway is better when I focus on the right shoulder blade moving to the left. Then, reversing that on the downswing, except moving the left shoulder blade toward the right hip (to avoid lifting up my shoulder). All input or suggestions are appreciated.

Working on the hip/shoulder rotation and weight forward shift through impact. Trying to get more rotation and keep the left shoulder down and around through impact.

Practice session at the range working on the backswing position and club path, specifically making the shaft a bit more shallower at the top of the swing (A4). On the downswing... trying to work on letting the hip/shoulder rotation. Working on the transition at the top... so, making a pause before starting into the downswing and making sure not to take the hands too far out to the left. This video is a "let run" video with a few clubs ranging from Driver, 8i, 6i and hybrid.

These are some practice drills and swings from iron practice shots. Focusing on shaft position at A4 and shoulder and hip rotation. Pausing at A4 and relaxing the hands and arms on the downswing to exaggerate the swing with the hip/shoulder turn. Comments and suggestions are always appreciated. Thanks!

Working on the Driver swing here... focus areas here are to relax the right wrist (the feel I found that seems to work is that the right hand is pulling the driver back, like pulling the bow back before firing an arrow). Also, focus on STOP AT THE TOP (I keep saying this to myself, to try and pause at A4, before going into the downswing). This really helps with making a good crisp contact. Finally, focus on swinging with hip/shoulder and less arms... turn through the ball before impact... moving the left shoulder back and not lifting up (all things that my Evolvr coach is having me focus on).

Doing better. It's looking more fluid. You're still putting the ball all over the place with the driver ... like someone else I know, but your takeaway looks better and your follow through looks a lot better. It'll take us about 1500 balls to get where we want to be.

It's been one week since my trip to Erie. So, a lot of thing are changing here with my swing. In this video, I am practicing a couple backswing and downswing drills.

Downswing drills in 2 swings: First swing with weight preset forward. The second swing with normal backswing and a double pump at A4 before hitting the ball. With both swings, focusing on weight forward and thrust forward, while club shaft extends straight out.
