So posting this as I have signed up for Evolvr. This was my 2nd upload to my instructor. Just guessing but I guess at some point it will be mentioned how I cross the line.

This was my 3rd submission to my Evolvr instructor and i am absolutely loving what Im being told. Things are being pointed out i never would have figured/seen with my own eyes looking at the same footage.

We are still going through some setup/posture stuff. Something I atleast saw on my own was mentioned after this submission about my clubpath in the backswing halfway through. I will definitely work on getting it pointed better at the top.

So the iron video will be my latest submission to evolvr, and will be my 1st in about 3 weeks based of what I sent last time. The thing is, i still I am failing at stopping the club from going over-the-line. Im going to emphasize that Im struggling with this and might need some pointers to help.

I also included a driver video.

As well, these will be my last indoor vids, as outdoor driving ranges opened today in Saskatoon. My course's driving range might take a bit longer as its grass hitting

You watched your backswing with the driver swing?

Yeah I gave it a few watches, I think I liked it more than the iron swing but it might just be the sound of it throwing me off.

I actually haven't sent a driver video yet through evolvr. Kinda wanted to wait until I could get outside and see the full flight.

I'm only at the end of page one, but allow me to compliment and congratulate you! From video one on the home page to the last video I watched,  you have improved so much I wouldn't even know it was the same golfer. The transformation between the two is beyond awesome. The last swing I saw was a proper golf swing. I won't comment on the first one as you were new and obviously trying to improve. Well done! Nice work! Let's see how low you can go in the future! Keep up the great work man!!

I meant you watched your takeaway - as in the you in the video.

Why not just keep looking down at the ball?

Thank you very much for the kind post, it means a lot. This game is a fun one.

It's almost cringey looking back at old swing videos. Its like looking back at high school photos.

Yeah thats odd. This swing was 1 of many in a 10 min vid. I decided to include the middle swing from the video.

I went back and watched other swings from that video and  none of the other the swings am I doing that extreme watch, so I accidentally included a bad example.

Admittedly, I'm having trouble trying to work on stuff as its finally playing season and I'd rather be playing as we lost about 3 weeks of playtime already and the membership is paid for. Im thinking I might just cancel Evolvr until Novemeber as I find its a bit much trying to make the change while still trying to play. Anyone have advice there?

Anyway, Im still having troubles with my handpath steepening and Im not quite sure how to fix it. I asked my instructor for an explanation thats possibly a bit more detailed than "feel your club pointing away". I also asked him if my next submission could be without a ball, and me showing multiple slowmo practise backswings to fix my path and see if any of them look proper.

Beside that, I know the downswing is too steep and the clubface is too open coming down, but I feel this might be happening from my backswing path problems.

Currently shooting as a 21 HI. My driver miss is maybe

  • 10% slice OB
  • 10% straight push OB/rough fringe resulting in lost ball
  • 20% straight hook OB/Rough

Decided to do a proper practise session for the 1st time in about 4 weeks. (My last post was from a quick warm-up before a round)

Went though only filming in slomo so that I could clearly see the picture of my swing. Really tried hard to not let the club go over-the-line, and I feel I kind of got there. As well, the club seemed to be less steep than usual. I also wonder if my club is too open to the path during my backswing?

Just to add, but anytime Im outdoor or in good enough light for the feature to work, I will only do slomotion. You see a lot more.

Recap of 2018 season

1-I used both Evolvr and a local instructor much sooner in the year and had things pointed out that I would not have before. The things pointed out to me from Jan to July really helped me out. Its ok to seek out help.

2-I think this goal should maybe have been cancelled, as I ended up playing this year at real rated golf course that increased both my GG and Golf Canada HI. This was also the 1st year I had an official handicap as it was included in my membership. A majority of my rounds are played solo, and I actually didnt play with anyone in an 18 hole round since late August and I had some good scores in that time.  My GG HI ended  at 17.4 and official was 19.9. Whats interesting is that the HIs were matching for awhile.

I ended the season hitting well, that I think Im closer to hitting some good scores if I keep up with what I learned in the last few weeks. While being a 19 Hi officially, my full swing compares with a 10.0 on GG. My GG HI was decently in the last few weeks.

3- I did eventually keep the ball in play more with driver, and in the last few weeks I was swinging much better. Whats crazy and I wish I stumbled on it sooner, but I found out rotating my head a bit at setup helped my rotation a lot.I found setting up with my head too straight on led to my back leaning towards the target. I was wondering why I kept ending my rounds with back pain and did mirror work to figure it out. I forgot where I stumbled upon the tip, but it helped IMMENSELY. My roation in the backswing is no longer moving towards the target and the pain is gone. One element that sucks is that I now look through the sides of my glasses, which distorts my ball view a bit.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
