I used to put the traditional way, i averaged 40 putts a round. I play off of 25 and out of all my game it was my dead cert score holder. I could rely on it. Now your going to be asking. What the f**k are you doing changing it?? Point taken. I watched a video from bret hartman when i first started playing golf this jamuary past. And i kept my head dead straight until i heard the plop. So again you ask. Good technique. Avg 2 putts a hole a round. Why change. I'm reading a book called *the impact zone*. It makes sense to crosshand put. Straignt leading arm. Lower firmer support of the shaft. And gary player said if he could do over his career he'd cross hand putt. I've played 4 rounds. I feel i have more control and i actually sense the acceleration going through the ball. It feels really weird to putt and the weight feels completely different. Like writing with the wrong hand. I've 3 putted shots i know i could have potentially putted but i feel more confident in the shorter putts to hole. and i feel good about the long puts like i can get the ball moving. I've avg 41 putts over 4 rounds. So it's not a massive drop but i'm holding out for it to get better. I urge you all to input and if you crosshand putt tell me how you got on. Experts. Should i stick with it or change back before it's to late.

40 putts a round isn't great, I'd be looking to change something up to. Cross-handed works great for some, definitely keeps your wrists from flopping around.

2 putts a hole. Play off 25 and been playing golf for 8 months. There's worse parts of my game. Pro players avg 26?

It's not terrible but you'll want to get it sub-36 as its the easiest part of the game. There are 3 keys to putting: 1- controlling your speed 2 - hitting your chosen line 3 - green reading. Figure where you are weakest and work on improving it. The most effective way to practice is to work on the first two keys independantly. The 3rd key is a little tougher, I'd recommend an aimpont class but first practice 1 - putting to different distance to learn how to control your speed and 2 - hitting putts on your intended line. And practice then separately!!!

@iTzJordyyyy Good info here: http://thesandtrap.com/t/77086/3-keys-to-better-putting/0_100 And really good info here: http://thesandtrap.com/t/74295/putting-do-not-accelerate-through-the-ball/0_100 Also look into Aimpoint green reading once your speed and line is relatively consistent and controlled.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
