so my golf season started off well with consistent scoring with my rounds between 79-84. scored very consistent for awhile then last month or so ive been all over the place, mid-high 80's, now last 3 rounds of 95,95 and 96. just seemed to lose it and cant find it right now. so i filmed my swing and did some slow-mo pics and noticed my hands were very low coming into the ball as if i was pulling the handle thru the impact area causing a wide open club face. i mean wide open, i had one still and i was maybe 18-24 inches away at impact and my club was so open, the toe was pointing wide pen to the back, so at impact i had massive flip in an attempt to close the face. at time it worked by most of the time it didnt. also during my rounds my iron play has been terrible with the same 3 misses, which are:(in order of most occurrence)

*fat shots

*hooks left(more lower flight and i am normally a high ball hitter)

*weak shots off to the right

is there any drills or videos that you guys can recommend that may help

Does the ball fade as well or does it stay straight after you hit it to the right?

Just a very slight fade. Off the driver or wood I play a consistent draw my miss there is left. Irons are a major prob right now. But it's not a slice, mainly a push I guess with small fade. That's prolly the least of my misses.

Where are most of the balls starting, left, straight or right? The more you flip the more the face will point left. Players that draw the ball typically have the face aimed right of their target at impact.

I'm thinking it's more of a path problem than a face problem, feel free to start a swing thread and post a video

Definitely try and start a swing thread, get some face on and down the line video of your swing. Check out this thread on filming your swing. http://thesandtrap.com/b/playing_tips/filming_your_swing

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
