Why do I buy so many drivers?

I don't know why I by so many drivers. I have about a half a dozen drivers at home. Every time I see a new one in the golf shop, I just have to buy it. Last week I had one custom made from a Alpha head that I got off eBay and a graphite design shaft.. Took it to the range, and I love it. Then I went to go get some gloves today at the golf shop, and I saw a Burner superfast driver in the barrel, and had to have. I think I have addiction...

Your mentality is that a new driver will improve your game all that much better. It's not an addiction it's a mental excuses to buy a new driver. I use to do the same but I put a end to that. Focus on putting and chipping and appreciate the driver you have

I totally understand. I have a new driver in the mail. I think what's important is having a predefined notion of success. While I pound my driver, the dispersion is too great. I'm switching from the 913d3 to a 915d3 and from a Stiff to an X. The potential loss of distance in the increased shaft flex should be offset by the better distance when hit low in the face (which is my miss). If not for the 15 yards extra, I would have kept my driver. Every purchase should have a goal (better launch angle, tighter dispersion, different sound) only buy when it solved a problem. I feel for you BC I have the same compulsion.

Maybe you just like golf stuff.  I do.

I suggest you get addicted to vintage clubs as I have. It is a lot cheaper addiction to feed.

You buy so many because your pocket book says can, and you have no self control. It's a Freudian thing. I speak from many years of experience.

Had the same mental issue when I was a young golfer. If the sign said I "would" gain 15 more yards I would buy it. At some point, when all the planets were properly aligned, the dog had puppies, and my wife was on sabbatical, I had a brain surge that told me that with 10 new drivers each promising me 15+ extra yards, I should have been hitting the ball 450 yards off the tee. That, and I was having trouble carrying some wide water hazards that were under 300 yards.

It was the same with putters for me. I was a golf club junkie, with more money than brains.

One of these days, I will clean out my golf storage room. Maybe give EBAY a try.

At any rate, I would not fret about your club addiction. You will eventually grow out of it. Then again, "eventually" can be an awful long time away.
