So, I entered a profile into the profile page Male;Left;9;5'10";35";7.5"3", and ended up with clubs like:

  1. Driver: G 10.5; Alta 55; Stiff; 45.75"; 5L Round in Aqua
  2. FW wood: 5W; Alta 65; Stiff; standard; 5L Round
  3. Irons: i; Yellow; N.S. Pro Modulus3 105; Stiff;Standard;5L; Aqua
  4. Wedges: Glide; Yellow; CFS Wedge; Wedge; Standard; Dyla-wedge; Aqua

Looks like I can use off the rack stuff in Stiff, is this accurate enough to not need an actual fitting? What would change if I went into a proper Ping fitter?

Just curious to see if I should get a proper fitting or just use depend upon a launch monitor and a Golfsmith salesman and the web fitting program? If the answer is the fitting route, how much better is it really than Golfsmith?

I used the online fitting for the wedge member review last year.  It went well and I think they fit me well.

That having been said, Ping will be having plenty of demo days in the not-too-distant future near us;  if your purchase can wait a few weeks, consider going to one of those and getting them to fit you there.  Free and probably better than online.

Thanks, I heard about the traveling Ping Van. I also could use some new wedges.

I did the website fitting as well as fittings by 2 separate fitters just to see if the could come to the same conclusions and recommendations. I was more or less set on Ping irons but not sure which ones. The color code shaft and model were the same by both fitters. Made me feel better at least and I am happy with my choices
