No doubt that it is however he can still drop it in the slot and hit it straight. Iv'e seen a lot of senior golfers in general they lose flexibility and often compensate by swinging more vertical and across the line at the top often causing slices but the down swing can be timed. Overall I think if he swung on plane his back swing would be very tight and short but would cure his faults so it's a double edge sword.

First, of all, thanks to both of you for helping me with my swing.

A little background on my physical part: In 2011, I did the Titleist TPI swing analysis by a chiropractor and a local golf pro. Initially, the chiro measured me on 30 body movements involving balance, flexibility and range of motion. For 11, I was PGA Tour caliber. For 11, I was OK. But for 8, I was modestly to woefully deficient.... Basically my body was "out of balance" for a good golf swing. Exercises that followed helped to a certain extent, and the pro recommended some swing and stance adjustments. (After a year, the chiro and pro both moved away...)

Anyway, fast forward to 2016, the second swing segment I posted is not as bad as the first, but I still need a lot of work. I'm having problems with something iacas talks about all the time. What I think I'm doing and what I'm actually doing are different. I'm getting into trouble - I think - because of a that little hand action at top right at top of the swing. It not only leads to crossing the line, it also starts my downswing off-balance.

I disagree. He's not as inflexible as you think. And "dropping it in the slot" is a bad way to try to swing, almost always.

If I can just stop at what feels like a 3/4 backswing, I come to a good top position without crossing the line. If I then kick my hips to start the downswing, I hit some fairly good shots.

But, to focus on doing things right, I need to get better elbow relationships. MV's "trailing arm rotation" drill has loosened up the right elbow so that I get better turn. On Day 2 at Myrtle Beach, I actually hit the fairway on 10 of 14 long hole tee shots. (But, the irons sucked!).

Now, the challenge is to get the better motions - including the diagonal sweet spot action - engrained as the primary motion of my swing. I have trouble with a second and third swing remnants creeping in as the round advances.

I need to go through the drills slowly, and make small improvements.

Focus, connect and follow through!

You cross the line because you rotate your forearms and lift your right elbow in a way that helps you go across the line. It's that simple right now. That's why you come down so far over the top as well.

Make a video showing you swinging to the top with the club as shallow and laid off as you can (within reason). Pause and then hit from there. Show us how that looks from Down the Line.

    • Got the Stack in November 2022, but my workouts with it have been sparse. I’ve never completed a program and I only do Return to Form because my body hasn’t felt great enough to do them often. Thankfully that is changing now finally. I’ve spent two years doing regular needle work, nonstop gym workouts for three years, and over the last six months, a lot of stretching. My doctor graded me an F for mobility six months ago. He checked me again this week and gave me an A++ for improvement. Huge restoration of mobility in my hips, lumbar spine, thoracic spine and hamstrings. It’s helping so much for golf and of course speed. I still have a ways to go here but I’m probably at a B to Rory’s A+ for mobility. I haven’t done much speed training but clearly I’m getting faster. Pretty happy to be where I am right now despite only scratching the surface of this. Hoping I can continue to build here. My goal is to start and complete the Foundation soon. Fingers crossed! When I came back to golf two years ago, I was around 88 mph with driver. Now my cruising speed is about 99 with a recent high of 104 mph during my range session on Saturday. Pretty exciting 😀. Okay, time for another round of burgers. I appreciate this thread and everyone’s respective journeys here. Happy 4th of July, everyone! 🇺🇸💥✨🌭🍔
    • Day 25:  Went to the range super early before it got too hot.  Hit a couple buckets, one with my 7i and one with my driver.
    • An incredible video that I encourage you to watch. I didn't know the PGA Tour's Apple Vision Pro app was so cool.
