Dave wrote up a great article about the stats he discovered most pointed the way towards victory at recent British Opens.

Can you top his stats? Are there any others out there that indicate better success at the British Open than the numbers he's found?

Numbers aside, who's your pick to win? Mine's Tiger, though I'm guessing he'll find at least two bunkers this year.

I thought the article was very interesting. And it definitely showed some truth as well. Those darn one-hit wonders always throw everything out of sorts though.

Dave, you write some interesting articles, I gotta give you props on that. I'm a numbers guy myself, or so I think. I used to read the newspapers for the baseball box scores and stats just like you did. :)

Oh, and as for my pick, I'm going with Darren Clarke. I am stubborn, and I said he would win it earlier in the year. So I'm sticking with it. And at least he had a strong finish at St. Andrews in 2000.

And Erik, you always pick Tiger it seems! I guess you are 50/50 so far this year, which is better than me.

I wouldn't have picked Tiger last year, Cody. But I think he's the best player in the world right now, and the numbers back it up. I like Singh too but he can't putt lately.

At The Masters Tiger hit some bad shots. The past few weeks, Tiger's hit some bad putts. That he's won and finished second doing those kinds of things shows what kind of game he's got.

Thanks Cody...I appreciate the kind words. It's fun to look into the stats and try and find something interesting. It takes a little bit of time to compile and interpret them, but is worth it.

As for the Open, like I said, I'm looking for Luke Donald or Jim Furyk. I usually take one of the bigger names, but I think it will be one of the 'lesser' big names. If I have to pick one, it would be Furyk. I'm not sure if Donald is quite ready yet even though his numbers indicate it.

Fairways and Greens.
