Ok guys here's the deal. I have taken about a 5 year break from the game and just started getting serious about playing again thanks to some encouragement form an old friend ( @tristanhilton85 ). I have a set of the original nike blades 2-pw a 51 degree Cleveland 588 a 56 degree cleveland 588. I also have an old ping i3 14 degree three wood and just picked up a used Callaway XR driver in 9 degrees. For a putter, I play a classic looking taylormade rossa Daytona model.

My grips definitely need replacing and are all different right now. The irons are mostly tour velvets in decent shape (5 iron has a tour velvet cord). The 3 wood grip is difficult to call a grip anymore, but it's so old the indentations are what keep if from slipping out of my hand. The 51 is a cord grip and the 56 is a midsize cord grip.

I play without a glove, not because I am cheap, but because I like the feel. Any suggestions on what grips I should be looking at? Also what's the deal with the new oversized putter grips? Any benefits/drawback? I play in Southern California and the only real weather I have to contend with is dry hot summers (100+ degrees).

Five years out of the game and I feel like everything has changed. Feeling a little lost and will appreciate as much help as I can get. Thanks TST!

A lot of us who played at the Newport Cup have Pure grips, and I like mine pretty well.  They use a pretty tacky compound, and have a variety of patterns.  Some of the other guys have had them for longer, and have said they last really well too.  I have liked Iomic grips for a long time, they stay tacky and last a good long time, but they're pretty pricey,  If you're not likely to keep your current clubs for very long, its probably not worth the investment.

Welcome bac to golf, and to TST

It's very hard to go wrong with Pure grips (you saw mine, I have the wrap style). Their "Pro" model is also very popular and is similar to a Tour Velvet and they also have the DTX model which is comparable to cord (although it is not a cord grip). I know I mentioned it to you, but the cool thing about these grips is that they blow on and off with an air compressor. If you look around eBay, I know you can get a set of 13 for about $75. I think you can pick up the gun for the air compressor for $20ish.

As far as the larger grips for putters, they are supposed to help quite the wrists a bit in your stroke, so if you think that is an issue with your putting stroke, maybe check them out.

I have replaced and regripped a variety of clubs which have all different sorts and types of grips, and they all have come off using compressed air.

I don't use a glove either and my favorite by far are the Golf Pride Z grips.
