No doubt there'd be griping, but I still think it would be really cool to watch the same tourney but different tees.  Doesn't seem gimmicky to me.  I mean, it's not like they'd be giving strokes out or anything.  Just scale the distances by something like the ratio of 75th percentile driving distance for LPGA to 50th percentile driving distance on PGA.  Quick lookup tells me that means the women should play 90% of the distance as the men.  So a 550 yards par 5 for the men would have women teeing off at 497 yards.

That would be a really fun comparison of the skills between the two groups outside of pure distance.  Like, if most players of both genders are playing a par 4 as driver/P-8i, and playing the same greens and course setup, that seems fair and interesting to me, not gimmicky.

But I realize I'm probably in the minority.

Good points - I'd probably enjoy it along with you.  No doubt, though, that many wouldn't consider that a serious competition and would bring out the asterisks in force.

Shirts vs Skins?

:-D

Cross your fingers on the coin toss!

Well, half of the audience would be happy at any given tournament. Over the long hall everyone would get their eye candy.

Anyway, lots of opportunities for games within games.  Ryder cup type events with mixed teams, concurrent tournaments was already mentioned, two person better balls, and even maybe with a lot of statistical analysis a way to compete head to head.

Sure they would be silly season type events but it might be fun.

I doubt we'll ever see a tournament (at least a real one) with both PGA and LPGA players competing against each other. I could possibly envision some sort of exhibition event where no official stats or money is on the table, but what would be the point of that?

With tongue planted firmly in cheek, I can see where such an event would allow Michelle Wie fans to see her play once again with the men. At least in an exhibition type format. she might not make a total fool of herself like she did in all of those missed cuts about 10 years ago. :-)
