Hi All,

Hope this is the right place to post this.. Just wondered how many of you actually keep a golf journal or a mini notebook to jot down swing thoughts or evaluations from your previous round of practice?

I've been improving slowly but I tend to make the same mistakes over and over again which cost me strokes (quick shots with no practice swing, using the wrong club, not lining up the ball on the green)

I've been thinking about investing in a pocket notebook to write down a few evaluations to help me improve as a player, especially since I play the same course 70% of the time. Would love to hear someone else's thoughts or advice?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not able to keep a journal - I can only start them.

What I've found that is working for me is the "5 minute practice" thread in this forum.  I update it after practice.  That helps me organize my thoughts and track my progress without having to maintain an actual journal.

There are times when I want to take some notes onto the course with me.  If I'm working on something or feel like I might get in trouble with my swing, I'll put a few swing thoughts in the notepad app on my phone.

I haven't felt the need to take course-specific notes . .like what club to use on particular shots, etc . .I just seem to remember all that.  Good enough, anyway, to not think of writing it down.

I don't think journals serve much of a purpose. I've seen some people's journals, and they're usually just band-aids and temporary swing fixes that they think helped them.
