I'm free to play golf on Sunday, but the forecast calls for rain/snow showers and temperatures in the 30s. That would normally cause me to opt for the couch instead, but I got an email from Chambers Bay announcing their winter rates. Now I'm thinking I might just get in full rain gear, pack up the push cart and go play, weather be damned. Where do you draw the line on weather?

T-storms or a heat index over 105. Everything else is fair game. Even if it's snowy I'll use a colored ball.

Impossible for e.g. is when the ball won't move on the green because it is soaking wet!

Snow/rain showers and temperatures in the 30's I would probably opt for TV in front of the fireplace. However in my younger and stupider days, me and 3 other idiots went out to play in the late stages of an ice storm. We actually confiscated a mat from the driving range to hit off of because we kept slipping. It was very cold and looking back I feel very stupid.

Well 30s and rain would be a close call. I guess the rates must be really good.

I would rather play with a heat index of 105. If it's snowing and no wind, it wouldn't be bad. Rain and 30* is no good.

I HAD a game for saturday.Buddy called and said it will snow.Had a game for Sunday.A different "buddy" phoned and said it will snow on Sunday!All of a sudden every one is a weather man.Myself...I'll wake up Saturday and make the call then. If you can play in that kind of weather, my friend, more power to you. You are what Muddy Waters calls a "mannish man!" Plus, you must be very economical: all the pleasures of playing golf in Scotland at only a tenth the cost!

This Saturday is supposed to be sunny and somewhere near 71 in my neck of the woods. Of course, that's a bit warm for this time of the year, even for north Mississippi. I shall endeavor to stretch my stiff muscles and try to accomplish something similar to a golf swing. I fear I won't have the opportunity many more times this year. Before I was bit by the golf bug, I had some tolorence for the winter. Now, I have none. I especially loath the rain and the cold. I do admire those who can play through the elements. I am in awe of those who can play in them and actually enjoy the round!

I'm willing to play if my hands and arms don't shake in of the cold.
The courses I normally play closed a couple of weeks ago and should open in early to mid April. It's -3° right now.

When I was in my late teens, I played in all kinds of rain and (stupidly) under ominous skys and, thankfully, lived to tell about it.

When I lived in a colder climate state, 50 degrees with little wind was the cutoff. If it was below 50 or if a consistent two club or more winds were in play, forget it, I found an indoor activity. Too cold means too many layers of clothing and it's not fun at all.

Last year I played a few times in the 30s - felt like 20s with wind chill

This year I made a committment to only go out if it's 40 or higher. Already failed there - a few weeks ago it was supposed to be 43, partly sunny - it starting raining on the first tee and didn't stop. With the wind it was definitely in the 30s.

I just bought a Coleman cart heater. I am playing tomorrow. High 41. Cart should feel like 60!

I just came from Mississippi last weekend! I love the weather! I remember golfing last year on Christmas Day! It was cold, but there wasn't much wind at all. Last week, the weather was pretty ugly though. We played on Saturday right before the rain started and it was brutal. It was a cloudy 40 degrees with a strong wind. I just don't see how people can enjoy playing in weather similar or even worse. I especially hate the rain.
