Hinge and hold, Steve, HINGE AND HOLD! Don't these players have diametrically opposed short game motions? Stricker doesn't hinge much, Mickelson lots of hinge?

Is Phil advising Steve, watching his technique, or just being social?

Not sure, but is Stricker using a bit more active release than usual?

Yea. I thought Steve Stricker is pretty good around the greens, too. Maybe Phil is showing him how to hit a specific shot?

I took a quick look and Stricker seems to come out ahead of Mickelson in SG: Around the Green just about every year.

Sounds like Phil is giving him some kind of advice. He says something like, "Now open it up but don't flop it" before the second shot.

From the SG stuff I've seen, Stricks is definitely stronger from 'no man's land' from ~ 25 to 80 yards with his 'straight arm' wedge technique that has a pretty low trajectory. Close in for the years where Stricker has enough rounds to qualify he's tied or better than Phil for proximity ARG.

So I think it's more Phil is showing him a specific shot that maybe he wants to add to his toolbox. Looks like how to use more trajectory with an opening face (increasing loft) through impact to stop a short-sided ball from shortish range (~ 10-15 yards?).
