Changing Clubs.

Hi mates. Well, you know Christmas is coming and I want new clubs

So, today, I went to the Callaway to take a look to the clubs they have. And this is what I want:

Woods: Callaway X Tour Fairway Wood 13° (Steel Shaft)
Hybrid: Callaway X Hybrid 2H (18°, Steel Shaft)
Wedges: Callaway X Tour (50°, 56°, 60°)
Irons: Callaway X20 Tour 3-PW (Shaft: Royal Precision Project X Flighted 6.0)
Putt: Odyssey Two Ball Blade.

But, before buying something I want to listen (well, read) to your comments.
- Do you recommend Steel shafts for the woods or hybrids?
- Had someone tried the Callaway Wedges? What's your opinion?
- Any other comment?

I have the Cleveland CG-10 56° but I only hit it 70 yards with full swing. I don't feel comfortable with the shaft of the Cleveland. Maybe an option is to change the shaft of the CG-10 and only buy a 50° and a 60°.

Merry Christmas! It seems you have a bit of a Callaway fetish, doesn't it?

I would recommend steel in the hybrids. I tend to beat the snot out of my rescue clubs, and I think that the durability of steel is preferable over what graphite has to offer.

Better off for Callaway than something else.

A little while ago, I borrowed a friend's 56° (13° bounce I recall) and found them versatile in various conditions. They are suited to someone with a good short game. Its pedigree was clearly that of RC.

Thanks! About the fetish well, maybe hehehe. The problem is that here in Mexico is difficult to try other brands. But Callaway has a big store in here so its easier to buy Callaway clubs, the advantage is that Callaway clubs work pretty goof for me.

I have two

hybrids, one with steel shaft (4H, 23*) and one with graphite (3H, 20*). I seem to hit the 4H far more accurately than the three degrees difference should warrant. I don't know if it's the graphite or what.

Graphite in woods. Now for the hybrids, it depends. I was told that if the hybrid was replacing an iron, use a steel shaft. If replacing a wood, graphite. For your 18 degree hybrid, you could go either way. It could replace that 2 iron, or a 4 wood. In my opinion, I'd go with the graphite, but I'd suggest getting on that monitor and trying it out!

Also, callaway wedges are decent. But in my opionion, cleveland wedges have always been much better. I'll be getting a 50 and 54 cg12 for Christmas :)

Is it the Callaway uniflex steel shaft? If so, I'd recommend it. I had one of the X hybrids (3H/21*) with that steel shaft, and I really liked it. I found it accurate and easy to hit. I've had a few fairway woods with that shaft as well, and I thought they all worked well. Price may or may not be an issue, but the extra money you pay for the stock graphite shaft they put in those is, I think, not worth it.

i feel that callaway wedges conduct a lot of spin and u can get more distance with them. For example I use a clevlend cg11 60 degree and was using the callaway x tour 60 and i had more spin and hit the wedge on average 8.5 yards longer then my clevlend

And I neglected to add earlier, congratulations on the new clubs. That looks like a fantastic set-up. I have an Odyssey two-ball blade putter, and while it is not my usual gamer, I quite like it. Good weight, great feel, very easy to align, I think.

And, yes follyforhire, the steel shaft for the woods would be the Uniflex, thanks for sharing your experience.

And I have another doubt. Is it convenient that the shaft of the irons should be mounted for the wedges? I mean I will take the X20 Tour with the Royal Precision Project 6.0, so is it convinient to put the Royal Precision Project X-Wedges for the wedges or leave the "stock" one?
