After this season with cheap used clubs, I'll be doing a fitting. I'm 6' 2" and my arms are a little short compared to others my height. It makes for some serious leaning over with the shorter irons

do average Joes get their hybrids, woods, and driver, custom fit for things like length, loft, and lie?

Thanks

Absolutely. Absolutely. Absolutely.

The argument could be made that we average Joes need custom fitting more than the best players because the better a player gets the more they can compensate for equipment.

Just recently got my first full professional fitting done. It's a ton of fun, like Christmas, and you get new clubs. Enjoy your fitting, tell us how it goes!

Rule number one of a fitting is to do it when you have a reasonably grooved swing.  All parameters can change if you change your swing.  Barring this though, definitely get yourself fitted

Totally agree, as I did it twice this year. Once for my driver, and again for new irons. First new set in 25 years (!). Glad I did; highly recommend doing so.

Clubs I've been fitted for:

* Driver, by Titleist

* Irons, by various (inc. Mizuno)

* Putter, by an Edel fitter

I think you should if you're even a semi-serious golfer.  There are a few plus handicaps around here who can probably break 80 consistently with ill-fitting clubs, but I think it matters more the higher your typical scores.

Driver:  Titleist 915D2.  4-wood:  Titleist 917F2.  Titleist TS2 19 degree hybrid.  Another hybrid in here too.  Irons 5-U, Ping G400.  Wedges negotiable (currently 54 degree Cleveland, 58 degree Titleist) Edel putter.
