So that's how they fix "unfixable" ball marks

I've never seen this before, the maintenance guy cut holes in the green the shape of a cylinder, probably 2 inches in diameter, 4 inches deep and then replaced them with new cylinders of dirt with new grass on top. Sort of like re-sodding.

Seven foursomes an hour, 28 chances to hit a green, let's say 1/3 do, so 9 and half don't fix their ball mark, that's 5 rounded up. Let's say 8 hours effectively a day, that's 40 ball marks not repaired. Then let's say half of those are fixed by people who carry a ball mark repair tool and actually use it. That's 20 unrepaired ball marks a day on the weekends. No wonder they need to do this. I saw 5 of these holes in the green. People don't fix their ball marks where I play so this is a thing.

I just use my heel and kick it in a little. Like the way we used to do a make-shift divot for place kick in football.

My course maintains a large green area that is off the course, when they need to fix the green they transplant rectangular sections.  It's almost seamless once they fill the perimeter of the piece with sand.  They did some about 2 weeks ago and you can't tell they were fixed.
