I played in a masters pool with about 20-30 guys this past year and was wanting to do the same for the FDX Cup, with the top 30 and all.  Has anyone have any ideas on how to score, pick, etc.  Never really played in any golf tournament pools.  Any help advice would be greatly appreciated!

Most pools are a random pick where no player can be selected by two or more participants. Entry is usually $10 and it's luck of the draw.

Other formats would be to pick multiple players with the winning score used as a tie-breaker. (pick 1-4 players)

To really make it interesting pick 4 players, use one round per player. (Day 1st round, Spieth 2nd, Walker 3rd, Rory 4th)
Total the four players, lowest score wins. Either payout three or more places or winner take all.

Basically, you can be creative in any format, like payout each round, or combine round 1&2, combine round 2&3, combine round 3&4, final payout all rounds.

Having multiple winners is more fun and may attract more participants. A pool of 40-60 or more is exciting with selections. There could possibly be similar picks which tie-breakers come into play.

All good ideas!  I'll be happy to have 10-15 players being the first time I've done this. Thanks guys!

    • Day 159 1-19 Flow drill while attempting to add arch in wrist on downswing. Not where it needs to be but felt good working on swing flow.
    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
    • That depends what you do within those two.  Are they your only options?   Check out Fit for Golf if you get a moment.  It's linked on the sidebar;  I did it for two years, stopped for a really bad reason, and I plan to get back to it soon.   Mike Carroll also has a great free podcast about a lot of topics in golf fitness.
    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
