I have had some set backs this year, physically. Stuff, though not real serious, but has shut down my physical activities. Stuff that has kept me off the golf course for extended periods of time.

Last week was another adventure into getting older. Woke up at 1:30am last wednesday to stomach pains and other nasty stuff associated with a belly ache. Couldn't keep anything down.

Although I am married to a doctor, my wife was back east at a funeral. She did say go to the ER after a few questions.

On Friday I go to the local ER. It was finally getting obvious to my no longer bullet proof brain, that I was not getting better.

After 7 hours of IV bags,  31 different medical tests, pain killers, and other assorted medical stuff, the answer came back that I was passing one or more kidney stones. Those of you who have done this have a decent idea what a woman feels like at child birth.

However the stones were not the serious part. What was serious was I had becomes seriously dehydrated, which had a lot to do with the stones moving. Imagine that. Me, a life long desert rat getting dehydrated.

I guess the main point of this post is to remind folks to watch what they eat and drink. Spicy junk foods, and soda (wife was gone) at the local race book, with my Buds, just doesn't get it done. Especially as we get older.

I am not out of the woods  with these stones yet according the urologist I visted this morning. Restricted diet, lots of water, and pain pills is my current life style. Tomorrow I go to see another specialist on what might help determine other causes of  the dehydration in the first place.

No golf either for an unspecified amount of time.

Sorry to hear that man. Kidney stones are prominent in my family, but I hope I bypasses me. My dad passed one on the golf course in a Porta John once. Apparently his scream was heard on about every hole.

Hang in there. It's not easy.

That sucks. I haven't had one myself (kidney stone). I'm not a doctor but I do believe you can do a lot of good prevention via diet that can help a lot.

It seems that there's a good deal of medical issues associated with spicy foods if you're outside of a select few groups of people (Indian, Thai, etc.): including gout, gall bladder infections, kidney stones, etc.

When I have anything spicy I will typically have a solid "purge" day with a lot of fluids and fiber. I only eat spicy maybe once every 2-4 weeks though. But I'm mindful of it, considering my lineage is not in the tolerate group when it comes to spicy, I'm sure. I visited Thailand for 2 weeks for work last year. It was HELL on my intestines.

Best of luck!

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
