Taking 7 existing events and bumping the prize money to £7m per event with the final DP world being £8m

looks like an interesting concept and attempt to catch up with the PGA tour, will be cool to see if that pulls some of the bigger names over

In 2017, the Rolex Series will feature a minimum of seven tournaments in seven iconic golfing locations across the world, all offering minimum prize funds of US$ 7 million, with the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai featuring a prize fund of US$ 8 million. Plans are in place to increase the number of Rolex Series tournaments in future seasons as part of the multi-year commitment made to the European Tour by the world’s leading Swiss watchmaker.

Looks like they don't yet have the list of the actual tournaments yet.

Okay… you could just post them next time. :-)

The 2017 Rolex Series will begin in May with the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club in England and will be followed by two tournaments in July: the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open hosted by the Rory Foundation at Portstewart; and the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Dundonald.

The fourth tournament of the Rolex Series next year will be the Italian Open at the Olgiata Golf Club in Rome in October while the final three Rolex Series events will be in November, comprised of the Turkish Airlines Open at Regnum Carya Golf and Spa Resort; the Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun City in South Africa; and the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

I thought they might all be in a row. Spreading them out… lessens their impact a little.

And their wording is weird… "a minimum of seven" implies that they don't know which tournaments (or even how many) will be a part of their series. That's why I stopped reading earlier.

Depends on which events they may end up competing against on the PGA tour? If i were them I'd run these against the lowest paying PGA events and give the pro's a reason for coming back,.....if they run it against the John Deere Classic or Wells fargo etc is a pro really going to make the trip to an event that pays the same? or are they going to stay stateside knowing the following week is also a US event they are playing at?

That is of course if they are trying to entice the bigger players back over, if its simply about investing more money into the tour for the players who are here week in and week out then i would imagine it makes no difference when they are?

Sorry,  I tried to post them  @iacas , but the copy/paste did not work on my Iphone&Dolphin.

I think they want more then 7 and are still working on that. But the tournaments must come up with 7 mil prize money, which is the problem.

    • Day 135: worked on putting bead for a while with the 2 cups drill.
    • Day 211 (29 Nov 24) - Friday men’s round albeit a solo foursome (temps in the 40’s, day after Thanksgiving and the average age closer to 75 - I’m a youngster at 65).  Interesting day of semi-solid play (8 of 18 GIR). Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
    • Day 60 - 2024-11-29 Got about 3.5' of snow today, so I was going to go to Golf Evolution, but… I only left the house to throw some snow. Instead, i checked out my putting stroke on HackMotion in the basement. Turns out… it's pretty good, and I'm very in touch with what I'm doing.
