How The SmartBallGolf LowPoint Trainer Works...

How it detects your swing and low point:

Uses a high tech laser screen to detect the low point of a golf swing.

After detecting the low point, the Smart Ball unit will display the corresponding light pattern.

Users can then work on adjusting their pattern, maintaining their pattern, repeating their pattern.

GREEN light swing:

Lighting all greens promotes weight, hand & shaft forward at impact position.

Divots would be located after the ball.

This is the light pattern is the level most golf professionals would create.

YELLOW light swing:

Lighting yellow lights can represent broken wrist at impact but with proper weight forward at impact.

Divots will often be located just before the ball.

RED light swing:

Lighting red lights represents the golfer’s weight and hands are back, behind the ball at impact.

Divots are located well before the ball.

Very pricey....

Yeah, $600 normally, though on sale "50% off" through the end of 2016 (but it's still listed as such).

They aren't selling many. Not for something you can replicate with a piece of tape or string…

Interesting, below is a video of it in action.

A cheap DIY project that might work is to jury rig a tripwire laser, if it gets blocked, it beeps, place it so that beam is an inch or so behind the ball.  Make more of them for more accuracy.

The thing about these small business products is the marketing is terrible, never found a good video that demonstrates how it works. Here's one that came up:

Why would you want to light them all up? Does't that mean you hit it fat?

Maybe all the lights in front of first contact to ground? It looks like he did that though.

or...Inverse Sleeve Drill.

Just as in the drill for swinging up with driver, place an empty golf ball sleeve  a head length or so from the ball, but place it behind the ball rather than in front of the ball. Ideally, would promote forward shaft lean with divot post impact. A little less messy than chalk dust.

    • Day 171 - 2025-03-20 Got a good 30 minutes in today. A little backswing so it doesn't get too far out of hand, then some downswing stuff. If I'm in a good spot at the top I have a chance even without the best downswing.
    • First day of spring and we had colossal snowflakes here.   The temperature has dropped significantly.   I may not get to golf until mid-April.

    • So to start with I’m 67 years old and just returned to the game a month or so ago after a 30+ year break. . To give you an idea of how long I’ve been away from golf, there were no hybrids last time I got serious about it. I’m enjoying it and seeing gains/improvement every time out. That said, I’m playing with antique woods (Old Taylormade Burners) and since I’m playing with Callaway irons (2004 BBs) I’d like to stick with the brand and upgrade to Callaway woods - at least a driver and a 3 for now.   For a glimpse of my ability, I hit the 3 wood 200 yards and more or less straight, and I think I newer tech clubs might help. Also I’m 6’5” and these clubs are a bit short for me, by 1 1/2” or so.   So looking at the gillions of perfectly fine looking Callaway drivers on eBay I’m completely overwhelmed and under-informed. I’m also doing this on a self-imposed budget since I’m not good enough to warrant new, exotic, pricey stuff and I’m pretty sure anything made in the last 20 years will do nicely.    So given all that, anyone have any specific suggestions on a good/prefered model Callaway driver that can be had for around $50? If I earn better gear by improving my performance I’ll go after it then, get fitted for clubs again, all that. But for now my goal is bogey golf so I’m limiting my golf allowance accordingly.    Thanks, cheers, and happy golfing.  As examples, I’m looking at RAZR, BBII, X460, Fusion FT series, Diablo, etc. and I can’t tell if they are all good and I should just shop price or if one or more are preferable over others. TIA…
    • G'day all. My name's Glenn and my mates call me Corbs. I'm a 50-something-year-old Aussie who HATED golf until COVID when I got utterly and irrevocably hooked. I'm playing three rounds a week and loving it. My best mate that I started golf with during COVID hit an Ace this week! Our foursome - including his son - all watched the ball disappear and we went absolutely mental! Only been playing a few years and improving quickly and trying to get to under 17 handicap this year. Thanks for having me!
