Yeah, but even if you had such a device, it would require people to act on the information. Clearly, that was one of the main issues that allowed this to happen, lack of action by people who already knew something was wrong with this man.

But all we would see in our own heads with a scan is visions of golf courses and the occasional random thought about beer and football.

Information and news moves much faster now. It is both good and bad IMO. Good in that we hear about issues faster. Bad in that anger and outrage slow down rational attempts with come up with good solutions. And before we can start working on it, a new news outrage comes up.

We aren't going to solve the violence debate in this thread. Everyone is frustrated when we see these things happen. The very, very difficult question to answer is 'how do we change things to reduce violence?'.
