Every club this guy is selling is 8 times the PGAvalue price. Do people actually pull the trigger?

Did you know you can search already sold listings on ebay? The biggest selling set of that model I found went for $125 +$20 for shipping almost 2 months ago.

That is how I use eBay. If I am selling something, I note what auction prices were and set my price lower to attract buyers.

If they do, not often enough. So not sure how this is good business? He's not alone. I have bought many excellent clubs on Ebay and unbelievable prices. Yet I see the same clubs, some in hideous condition, at outrageous prices  and they NEVER move. That's why I refer to those types as "antique dealers" because you could literally return to their store in 2 years and see the same items with 2 inches more of dust. My advise, don't dwell on it because there are too many very good businessmen out there that will work with you at fair prices.

I've sold several items on ebay and always tried to give buyers fair prices. Only one time did a buyer become disappointed. I did not have a camera at the time and used stock image, but I was careful to indicate that fact. I described in detail about the condition of the clubs. The buyer bought them blind. Later and "after" the protection period, he emailed me complaining and exclaiming all sorts of things. I learned that he had been on a military deployment and just got back, but said his son had bought the same set of clubs for much less and that he was going to buy that set from his son.  I refunded all his money including shipping. (even though, I was not required to do so). He gave me a positive feedback, but kind of left handed compliment in that he also mentioned that he returned and I refunded him.

When I received the clubs back, I put them back on ebay and they sold at auction for $50 more than the first time around.  "What goes around - comes around".

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
