Whenever I hit my 4 &5 irons the ball really hooks.  My shorter irons are OK.  I am thinking it is because of toe hits.  So my question is two fold.

1)  Why am I getting toe hits on my long irons and not my shorts.

2)  How do I fix it.

Thanks

My suggestion would be to address your long irons on the heel of the club, that might help get contact on the center of the face (sweet spot).

If addressing at the center produces contact on the toe, it makes sense that addressing on the heel would produce contact on the sweet spot.

Worth a try.

Toe hits on irons don't create gear effect hooks nearly as much as a wood. I would guess path/face angle issues are much more likely to blame. Hitting the short irons well shouldn't factor into the diagnosis, they have a way of masking flaws.
