Was hitting my driver well today, but this was my favorite, and finished it out with tap in for Par.

I shot an 85 yesterday without any shots that really stood out as spectacular to me.  On the first nine, the highest SG shots that didn't originate on a tee were a 22 yard chip from the rough to 6' and sinking a 10' putt (not the same hole).

On the second nine, driver 4-hybrid to 17' on a 421 yard par-4 was pretty cool.  Sinking a 15' putt for par on the 420-yard par-4 15th was my largest SG of the day (0.98 vs 10 hcp), and that one goes on my acting resume because when it went in, I acted like I wasn't surprised I made the putt.

I'm a lot happier with that round than this post indicates.  It shows I can play to a pretty good score (a 10-11 handicap shooting 85 on a 70.9 / 125 / 6400 yard is a good performance I think) without having to work miracles.

A nice consistent road is just as satisfying as a round with a few outstanding shots.

nice round.

Club of the week, my hybrid. Stripe show on every shot. This one was probably the best. About 240 to the green. The ball was on a severe upslope. I hit it just off the back of the green (like 1-ft.

I haven't run the ShotScope yet, but I played 18 today.  I hit a great drive on 6 and then, holes 7-17 (excluding par-3s) I hit some very uninspired drives.  Then, after hitting on 17, I realized I'm over-swinging.  So at 18, I took a practice swing with the drill I've been doing during practice shots at home the past few weeks.  Then I decided, one more practice swing, but you know, with the ball right there. So I did.  I didn't even hit it at full speed.  It resulted in a nice high draw and settled onto the fairway.  To put it simply:  if the rules allowed me to place the ball anywhere in my reasonable shot zone as that tee shot, the spot I would have chosen is where it ended up.  I went on to hit two more good shots (it's a par-5) and left myself with a 7' birdie putt.  While I missed it, that drive is going to stay in my head for a very long time.

I holed out from 22 yards for birdie today during my round;  this is my second-farthest away hole out of the year (so far).

Probably the 130 yard shot where I had to punch a 6 iron just to the right spot to run it up onto the green. Missing too far right runs down a hill, and left hits the trees blocking out the 3/4th of the green. I was able to get the ball point high for about a 25-ft putt.

A small mistake that worked out great. The hole location was very far back and way left. A small mound on the green hide the hole. I hit my 8-iron approach planning to be a bit right of the hole but tugged it a little left of where I wanted to be. Went straight at the flag and disappeared behind the mound. I thought it could be good and it was, 6 inches from the hole.

p.s. Yes, I managed to make the birdie putt. 😉

    • Per conversation with @iacas yesterday, resetting my work to get my trail elbow high and in front of my body. Not sure of the hand path or incline or hips or anything here, but only priority is to get comfortable with the high trail elbow.  I couldn't feel where the clubhead or the shaft is in this swing at P4 and admittedly it is terrifying to not sense my elbow close to ribs and behind me so building trust is a stout challenge. Having said that I think I am better positioned to not fall off the wagon now that I understand the 'why'. Will see. I've made promises to myself before.
