I agree, Duval could be a top 5 player again..he just needs to find a little bit of confidence and the desire to play again- the 2 are related in golf. He's not playing that well at the moment but i believe that he will return to the golf elite one day. Although to qualify that i should say that he needs to address the mental problems that he tries to conceal from the world. Duval seems so reclusive to me.

I wish otherwise, but I'm afraid he done. It is really hard to get back to the level required to compete in the 'big show'. He's got a good life and unless he's got a tremendous drive to do it, he won't be back.

I see DD as a top 5 PGA player. Once he realizes that he can win again, he will zone in 25 times more than Tiger. He is the one player when on his game can stand toe to toe with Tiger and win.

Based on what? One British Open Championship and a 59? He couldn't hang with Tiger before, ever. He has faded to obscurity for the last six years or so and shows no signs of recovering, which is a shame. I like him and wish him well, but I seriously don't think Tiger ever was shaking in his Nike's.

I think ROBERT Duval has a better chance against Tiger than David.

To watch him in his hey-day and then see him struggle was heartbreaking. Although he's played some good golf since then I'm afraid he's pretty much done. Hope I'm wrong. Seems like a good dude.

I think he'll eventually make it back at some level. Maybe a Cut-maker, but he'll never break the top 15 in the world.

Which is a shame I really like him. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and would carry his bag anyday!

I modeled my swing after David Duvall from watching videos from his heyday. He hasnt played well at all since i picked up the game, so I would love to see him return to his dominant ways.

I heard Arnold Palmer is still striking the ball well...

Yes.. yes he is. But this thread here is for David Duval. But feel free to start one on Arnold Palmers great ball striking ability.

It's sad to say but it looks like DD is done, he won't earn his card. He played better last year, this year it's all MC with high ++++scores, lots of triple bogies, hitting amateur like shots at times, his head isn't where it needs to be. He had his time but Tiger came along and that was it, end of story.

As much I liked watching this man when I was growing up, I don't think he's got it anymore. He may make a few cuts this year and he's got a shot at getting his card back but if he does get it back, I don't think he'll ever win again. I know he's got love for Georgia Tech, he'd be a great college coach. Kids would flock to a program with him as a coach.

  • 2 weeks later...
Reminds me of when Ian Baker Finch totally lost his gord. The guy wins the 1990 British then shoots 90 a few years later. Never got it back.

I wouldn't hold your breath. If you're not mentally strong as an ox, you could totally get beaten down out there.

By the way, his full name is David ROBERT Duval.....Seriously, his parents must hate him.

He's by far my favorite player to watch and it kills me that he's not playing well. I always thought his swing was so smooth. I just really love his tempo. I saw him play at the Buick at Torrey earlier this year and I thought he played well. I think he was 4 over but he had two bad holes.

He looks like a completely different person from the last time I remember seeing him. I'm sorry if I've missed something, but does he have health issues? He gained some weight, didn't know if he's dealing with something

    • The MTB Prime and Prime X had issues with the cover being too soft and getting cut too easily. They said it was more prevalent in the Prime than the Prime X which I found odd because that was the exact opposite of my experience.
    • Day 120 - Played 18; much better than yesterday. Miss right now is off the heel of the club, so I need to sort that out.
    • Today we played Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH. Course was in great shape but my game didn't show up. I will say I pitched and chipped fairly well but almost everything else was very hit or miss. Cost myself a lot hitting an in play drive with pulling my approach shots maybe 85% of the time. Finally figured out I had been swaying most of the round. Only took me until 13 to figure it out. Used what felt like a much more centered turn and the ballstriking improved. 18 tomorrow using a 2 man scramble format. Just looking to contribute. Been a blast though.
    • Day 22: Hit balls with 7-iron using mevo+ to track dispersion. Was out for a long time after work; 86 balls but the first 50+ were 50% swings focusing on top of backswing feel and then just hitting the ball as a psychic reward. Finished with 20 balls close to full speed. Pretty happy with dispersion and also no horrendous misses. I’m chunking my priority piece out into two separate feels, first and more important is the position/balance at top of backswing which is what I was working on. Once I have that engrained I’ll move to transition part.
    • FWIW I never really had issues with the previous generation of Snells. But… I'm not sure I played them a ton, either.
