So I think I hear a lot of stuff out there about how to get your shaft when at position a4-a5 more horizontal, to me I feel that means shallowing out your swing. To my understanding we dont want it vertical with the shaft pointing to the inside of the ball causing an out to in swing path. If I am wrong on anything I said above please correct me. I hear things like what I listed below as swing thoughts to help shallow out the swing.

For a right handed golfer

  • Point the shaft to the outside of the ball.
  • Point your left wrist watch to the sky.
  • Tuck your right elbow.
  • Keep the right elbow tight to the body.
  • Roll the right shoulder.

In order to help shallow out the swing which swing thought above would be the best to think about? If you do not think any of them, what way would you describe it? I really need to post a new video to my swing thread, my last video is from last season.

Come join the discussion. Lots of tips here in this thread below. I'm taking a break for a couple weeks (injury) but my instructor is still guiding me through this, bit by bit. Been over a year for me (including lotsa winter work), but I'm determined to get through this.

I'd be really interested to see your swing. I'm worried you're getting to technical and playing "swing" not golf. How's your short game and ability to score? The only reason I say this is because I used to be paralyzed by over analyzing the mechanics of my swing. I had to get out of my own head and just "play." Sorry for the ranting I'll be quiet now.

@span3636 Below is my MySwing thread where you can see my swing. My most recent video is from February with an 8 Iron. I will have a lot of time this week to practice so I will update it with a few new videos by Friday.

I would say my short game from 100 in is good. My most confident shot is from 100 yards.  My short game struggles are distance control not really accuracy. I am always comfortable with my short game.

I try not to over analyze my swing. Its just with my driver the ball starts straight then slices, to me that means an out to in swing because the face of the club is square because of how it is starting. I would call it a straight slice. My goal over the next few months is to hit more fairways.

Just watched your swing. Good motion through the ball. I would suggest just hitting a lot of balls. You've got to hone those fine motor movements. Remember, the golf swing is not a natural motion. It takes time.

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
