I can't wait till these things come out. If you haven't heard callaway has come out with 3 new balls. HX hot bite which i can't wait to play and the tour i and tour ix. What do you think about the HX hot bite. Will it bite as much as the titleist balls?

i have tried some of the callaway balls lately. i like a soft ball with a tonne of bite. I found that the Big Bertha to be the best if your looking for some feel.

im waiting until i finish my last 24 Srixon Soft Feels, then im buying a dozen Big Berthas. I suggest purchasing a sleeve.

I really like the Callaway HX Hot and I use them in combination with the Titleist ProV1.

Maybe the HX Hot BITE can persuade me to completely comit myself to Callaway balls.

the Hots are some of the hardest balls you can get according to GOLF magazine last issue. Also have very low spin.

All in all Callaway balls were short off tee generally... compared with other premium brands.

Yeah most of the time I can tell this when I use them.

Thats why I am going to try out some other balls as well. Maybe some soft Dunlops.

I read that article in GOLF magazine also and i took it as the hx hot bite was the best ball in the in the second range. I currently play titleist pro v 1 and pro v 1 x along with the nxt series. I play them for the "drop and stop" control. I am hoping that the hx hot bite will have this same concept to them and let me play my favorite brand. I like the big berthas but i don't get the greenside control i like. They roll a little too much for my liking. As for the release in canada they aren't out in stores till feb in the US so i would look for sometime in feb.

Just to bring alittle sanity to this thread...

A) guys, all balls will spin if you know how, so if you want more spin, dont always read the lables, they all will work.

B) honestly, not everyhting you read in a golf magazine is true. nearly every time a magazine comes out, they have an article guranteeing "perfect" ball striking. So, really, dont pay a whole lot of attention to how these guys rank all of this, its more of what you want, than what these companys are paying this magazine to tell you.

I agree. My pro told me not to listen to most of the articles in stuff like Golf Mag., Golf Digest, etc. because sometimes it will just get too complicated and mess with your mechanics.

yeah, I was in class writing the post, now I have the article in front of me and this is how it stacks up...

driver@ 13.75* launch and 90mph swing... HX Hot 253.9 HX Bite 249.3 NXT Extreme 257.5 NXT Tour 254.2 Burner TP 255.4 hardness (durometer test) HX Hot 67.0 HX Bite 54.4 NXT Extreme 64.8 NXT Tour 57.2 Spin (76mph swing speed w/ SW) HX Hot 6,963 HX Bite 11,331 NXT Extreme 6,824 NXT Tour 10,612 Burner TP 10,894 I list these balls because they are all in the $25-30 range from this data it looks like NXT Extreme and HX Hot are comparable and NXT Tour and HX Bite are comparable. But the NXT's get better distance. I agree with some of the posters who said not to put too much stock in this, but it is fun to read and think about... I personally am going to play NXT Tours this year, just ordered 7 dozen at a cheap price. I have played them before and the feel is great, almost like a ProV1.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
