What was your typical swing speed on the cg2?

I don't really remember, but it was a lot lower than 110mph. I should probably go and measure it again, when I have some time.

Exactly!  Same here!  Did you also notice usual cuts and draws going way further right or left than usual?

yes, and also with other tour balls out there. spin is relative, if it has spin, it has spin going backwards and sideways.  the sideways of the driver is what kills me the most. I use the driver up to 14 times a round, and I might have 1 or 2 bad drives for the round and it would exaggerate a hook or slice into out of bounds or a fairway or 2 over on the wrong holes. Most of the time it will stay in my current hole. The bad part is that the super slice and hook is on my mind and I get scared to really swing through it because of the result I am anticipating that might or might not happen.  So I tend to just use a mid range ball with less spin of a tour ball, or get a tour ball that has less spin. I find greater success when I use a mid range ball or one of the better cheap balls out there. I already can put backspin or check up range balls that have no spin, so a top shelf cheap ball is the way i go.  I usually start my round with a new cheap or midrange ball until i get warmed up and feel confident of my swing. Im scared to lose a good ball right away, lol. Then I start playing good, so my superstitious side of me sticks with the cheap ball for the rest of the round, because when i switched to a tour ball a few holes later, I put it out of bounds or something and finish with a bad score. So I would stick with the cheap ball and pretty much have tons of birdie opportunities, but since I'm not a pro, I miss a lot of putts. I have my margin of error less with cheap balls then the premium balls and I tend to have a better chance to score well with the cheap ball.

I guess it really boils down to if i am playing a big tournament or just a competition. Also if i hit the range the day before or practiced during the week. Most of the time I just play the weekends and when its just a weekly competition I don't even practice. When it comes to the tournaments i like to get a round in on wednesday and hit the range on friday and be ready for tournament early saturday morning. You never know what the day will bring, so if I'm clicking on all cylinders and feel confident i use the premium balls, until it goes south and lose confidence, then i switch to cheap ball.

i am embarrassed to use a cheap ball because everyone expects me to use a premium ball, but I use whatever ball i do well with for that day.

I recently played with a gentleman who swears by the Project (a). He definitely had the game to back it up too.

As a higher handicap I enjoyed the RBZ U which was straight for me off the tee and held the greens well.  When TM stopped making the RBZ U and released the Project a I found they had way too much spin off the tee for my swing.  What were nice fades with the RBZ U became balls off the fairway with the Project a.  Keep in mind I have an 85mph driver SS which could have an impact, but if you tend to fade or draw your drives the Project a may give you some problems.

At $30/dozen in discount stores, I would think he does. . .

I shopped around Dick's and was thinking about picking some up when I saw the price. That's when the slightly used Pro-V1s suddenly looked really good again.

Wanted to update this.... so ive been using the updated project a for this year and im pleasantly surprised.  They seem to have kept everything great about the ball and also improved on the problem areas.  For example there is far less side spin than before on full shots.  I also think it flies a bit further.  All in all much improved!
