Next week I'll be in the Cleveland area.  I'd like to play a couple rounds.

Anyone like to recommend a couple good Public or semi-private ones?  I like harder/tricky layouts, but scenery and low crowds is even more important.

Thanks Erik, that is a great start.  too many to pick from since I'm only there a week.

Hoping a few people suggest favorites,

But if not, I can use this to narrow it down.  I like the rating system and it seems to align to my likes.  I'll look for high ratings near me.  (Lakewood - I think I'll have to drive a bit to get away from the metro courses)

  • 4 weeks later...

Been a bit but to close the thread- a couple weeks or so later (I've been out of country since) - thanks to Buckeybowman for the referral and Erik for the website - I'll be using both for my next trip in October.

played Manakiki (great course - really special) - Donald Ross design - big winner - beautiful, challenging, all 18 holes are unique, just the best

and Fowler's Mill (Great "Lake" Nine, and decent "River" nine) - Pete Dye design - voted #1 public course in Ohio - I can see that.  I like Mankiki better, but this one was a winner too and I got a $15 w/cart deal on Golfnow too.

My last four rounds have been something special (Manakiki, Fowler's, University Ridges (Madison area), and Muang Kaew (Bangkok).  I'm lucky, and a bit poorer for the month - but worth it.
