I'm getting golf lessons and he is telling me I'm over extended. With his method I'm only hitting a 7 iron 133 yds on average on a monitor and with mine im hitting 7 iron 160 carry and fairly straight. Idk if I should continue practicing his method or continue to work on my own. Am I overextended here? What are negative side effects of over extending?

No. You're not over-extended.

You do seem to be pretty far behind the ball, though. I'm not in love with this at all…

So should I have the ball more in the middle of my stance. I'm pretty new so I'm learning

No, you are shifting backwards laterally during the backswing. Never a good thing.
