Hi all,

I have been attempting to shorten my backswing.  what I've found is that my arms don't seem to be the problem (right handed player and my left elbow stays relatively straight), but wrists really "break" at the top of my swing right before the downswing.  because they break so much, my club gets parallel to the ground at the top of my swing and I feel like it makes me "cast" the club on the down swing.

hopefully this description is clear when I describe it...

any tips people have to help correct this are much appreciated!

Thanks!

Really this could be so many things you should just post a swing.  If you search for posting member swings, myswing, or the like, you'll find a how to.

To throw some dust in the wind, it can indeed be a problem if you get to the top with a decent position and then cup the left wrist and let the club pressure slide from the fingers (and base knuckles) of the right hand over towards the thumb, getting the club pointing right of target and past parallel.  One thing you might try is bowing the left wrist up through the top and feeling the weight of the club in the fingers of the right hand.  I like to work with the submarine throwing (some like the low forehand frisbee) feel.  I'll bet that at first this will result in OOT pulls, but it can give you somewhere to start.

But again, posting a myswing thread is really the way to get better advice around here.

Try gripping the club a little tighter at the top of the back swing.   It sounds like you just need to maintain a little better control over the club so it doesn't flop over.
