Must have hit a rock or pebble and noticed a small nick out of my Apex 5 iron sole. Is this worth bugging out or will it smooth itself out over time? Silly question but will this nick cause any playability issues with it being on the sole and being a forged club? The ball flight seemed lower yesterday but that could well have been me mis hitting it instead of the club.

It's cosmetic. If it has a bit of a burr you may want to smooth it with some 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper. IF it really bugs you

It's just cosmetic and the first of many.  Golf clubs a made to hit the ground, and rocks, sand, stones, roots, and other hard objects are just part of the process.  

Get out and play those suckers so that one little ding doesn't get lonely all by itself! :-)

Agree with all that has been said.  It is cosmetic, I might hit the burr with sandpaper or fine grinder on a Dremel just to knock off the sharp burr,no more.

I wouldn't worry about it. That's going to be one of many ganks on your clubs. 

It's like guitars, you play them, they're going to get scuffed, chipped and any number of horrible things. Some guys freak out with the slightest scuff on the back of the headstock that no one will ever see. 

Golf clubs are an even different beastie. You're purposely smacking the crap out of another object, they're going to have bad things happen to them. Plus, you have a set of pristine irons that look like they are on a magazine spread, people will think you're a poser with nice gear. Sport those battle scars proudly.

I still use my dad's old Hogan apex plus irons and they sport some pretty nice scars due to dad's occasional tantrum/club flip/toss. 

Another is my set of TaylorMade irons. I had never used offset head before and I buried my 3 iron well behind the ball. The soil here is very sandy and gritty and I gave my 3 iron a nice set of scuff. In looked at the head, said ah shit! Well, got that out if the way day one!

      I mean there has to be some thought. For eg., something like 'soft knees and wrists' at set up and maybe a dynamic 'left arm to chin' as a trigger to start DS. I have these one or two anchor thoughts and have served me well. In fact, my wildest swings are the one where I have no thoughts or if I forget to walk thru my anchor thoughts. In contrast my best rounds are where I am consistent with the anchor thoughts.    OTOH, if I am running my entire half hour lesson (hypothetical) with some pro that I had last Saturday or whatever before every swing then I'm probably in trouble before I even get over the ball.

      Two bits. Bit 1 The NCAA's appeal of Brendan Sorsby being granted a temporary injunction will not be heard until February, so there will be nothing to prevent Sorsby from playing the full season and potential CFP.  Bit 2 The Big Ten Conference will hold a meeting and is expected to ban all of its athletic programs from playing Texas Tech in the regular season. Georgia has done the same. The SEC will meet to consider a similar ban. Fellow Big 12 members TCU and Kansas State are spearheading a similar ban, but the conference charter might not allow it. Meanwhile, Big 12 athletic directors are meeting this week to explore what options the conference might have.

      No, but I'm also in disagreement that golfers have no thoughts over the golf ball, and/or don't ever think I've met someone I truly believe is thinking nothing but "target" or something on most shots.

      StuM,  I have, in the past, added a left handed club. (Ususally a 7 iron) However, I usually take a stroke penalty and move the ball to where I want it.  I play for fun and in a pinch can use theback side if my club if I don't want the penalty stroke.    RetiredOldMan,  Terry
