Putting off Heel of Club

I have a tendency of leaving all putts off to the right . Played a round alone the other day , and for the heck of it , I tried setting up with the ball off the heel of the putter . Amazing . I single putted the last 4 holes . It was helping later on the practice green as well . Any ideas on why this happens?  Thanks

Putts to the right? Ball position a smidge back, you may have too severe of an arc leaving face open at contact. Think you are better off correcting the error than hitting off the heel - typically hitting away from the sweetspot, you will lose energy to the ball.

When you line up at the heel, do you make contact on the heel or sweetspot? If contact is on sweespot, I would guess that your arms are  moving off your body.

It's probably a temporary fix that happened to make up for some other error you're making in your stroke. Heeling putts tends to help them go left and with less pace. But maybe you were actually lining them up off the toe, and on the heel to you is on the sweet spot in reality.
