In another thread True Stike golf mat was brought up as a good mat.  I am considering swapping out the mat in my indoor setup.  I do not like it.  It's too hard.    I do use a GC2 launch monitor which means the ball has to be placed in a specific area for the monitor to read it.

That area is pretty small.  Perpendicular to the ball range is 6" total.  It looks like these are set up to hit irons off the gel and tee'd balls on the section of grass further away from you.  Is that correct?

So I could not use a standard under the mat rubber tee.  Moving the monitor is not an option.  Has anyone used this with a monitor?

@inthecup, the link you put up mentions using the GC2 so I am assuming it can in fact be used with Trustrike. but, obviously, I have no firsthand experience.

You can use it but the tee thing is a hassle.   I am wondering if there is a way to avoid the problem that I am not seeing.

What problem? I'm not sure what you mean - you can move the GC2 slightly. Hit some irons, then move it and set up for the tee/driver shots. No?

That hitting strip lifts up, right? I'd drill a hole through it so you can use the rubber tees.

If your practicing maybe.  It all needs to be aligned or the data is wrong.  If you are using the simulator no.  There would be to many moves and to many people.  It would be slow and cumbersome.  I could make a track that it slid forward and back in to hold alignment but that could be a bit much.  I have used a tee that sits on the Matt I was hoping for something better.

Oh sure, for sim use I see.

Get a little tee that sits on the mat.

This has other flaws in that I use a return net.  With ball won't really return it will hit the front of the matt.  Is the matt worth it?  Now if I hit a fat shot the club skips and gives me a high number as far as strike angle like 4% up so you know it was fat.  The result of the shot is unrealistic because of it,but I know it was fat.  What is the result and feel of a fat shot on this matt?

Make a little ramp? I don't know. We just pop the ball up over the lip downtown, at Golf Evolution.

The feel is better. Especially if you get the really tight fairway mat style. The thicker the "grass" the less feedback you get.

Best mat I've ever used, but it's still a mat.

    • Day 211 (29 Nov 24) - Friday men’s round albeit a solo foursome (temps in the 40’s, day after Thanksgiving and the average age closer to 75 - I’m a youngster at 65).  Interesting day of semi-solid play (8 of 18 GIR). Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
