"5 Minutes Daily" Practice Challenge

Day 9 (10 May 24) - Played 18 with a good friend and one of his coworkers.  Was not a solid scoring round, but lots of opportunites for course management. Had a blast as we truly "got our money's worth" as my friend jokingly said.  Had some solid shots and finished the round with a solid birdie on 17 (the only really good hole of the day).

Day 305: Played 18, shot a +6 77. Went +1 on the front, so limped in a bit. But I hit a lot of good shots, so I’m generally please.

Day 6:  My son tried to teach me how to chip.  Feels weird.

I may not hit the ball far, but at least I find all of the pretty flowers.

Day 306: played 18 again. Not a good round. Mostly issues with approach shots, but also not great short game.

Day 10 (11 May 24) - Spent day at beach place, no golf gear to work with.  Used the broom held from the head end to make slap shot drill style swings while rehearsing pre-shot routine.  Not the most orthodox way to drill, but hey it allowed me to get some time in.

Day 30:

Did some full swing stuff coming up with a swing thought for tomorrow’s 18. Then a bit of pitching into a net. After dinner some putting in the living room.

Day 59. Hit some wiffle balls in the yard to work on technique. Alignment, but main focus was set up where I tried pushing the hands a touch forward and closing the face. This really seemed to help my face awareness and control. Still a lot of work to do in this regard

Day 8: Hit a bucket at the range with my driver and 7i.  Had an hour long lesson focusing on just my 7i.  My son and husband then talked me into playing 9 holes since the course was pretty empty.  Hubby and I played best ball against our son and we beat him 40 to 44.  I actually had several best balls.
Golf has been something my boys have been doing together the past year.  A month ago, my husband was in an accident and fractured his skull, multiple brain bleeds, lost his hearing, sense of smell, etc. but he’s recovering quickly.  He’s currently staying at an inpatient neuro rehab facility in the Bay Area but he gets to come home on the weekends.  I thought if I took over my husband’s spot at their practice and hit balls with my son at the range, and walked the course at his weekly games we’d be keeping him on a semi decent regular schedule.
Sure, I had a lot of do overs today and hubby started to wear out around hole 7, but it was nice to spend the time together.

I may not hit the ball far, but at least I find all of the pretty flowers.

    • Have not filmed my iron swing in years so here is a current one. Was getting pretty shut with the face and hanging back as is my tendency, so I have just been working on that.  Pretty dang happy overall with this swing but it is clearly not without flaws either.

    • I can share more details later on, but… I'm looking for someone to produce a short weekly or bi-weekly podcast covering golf (instruction/coaching) and sell the ads. Revenue splits would likely be straight 1/3 among the three of us (two podcast hosts, one producer). I produced hundreds of episodes of podcasts, so I know how to do it, I just don't want to this time around. 😄  P.S. Current idea is that the podcasts would be a tight nine or ten minutes each. We're not talking about hour-long podcasts here or anything.
    • I just hit 425 and finally played golf in New York (26th state), at Sleepy Hollow Country Club (Hole 16), which was fantastic.
