I've been Playing Golf for: 20 years (maybe 3-4 times a year), but only consistently (15-20 times a year) for 18 months
My current handicap index or average score is: 21
My typical ball flight is: Fade
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Big Slice or pull hook

Videos:

First off, thanks for looking at my swing!

Secondly, I know these videos are not ideal angles and I apologize for that. It was kind of a last minute decision to film myself today at the range. I will try and do better next time...I hope that some of you will be able to help regardless.

Lastly...this was me today with my 6 iron working on hitting the ball solid. I used foot spray to paint my club face and the picture above is indicative of the feedback I was getting most of the day. My ball flight today was fairly straight with occasional fade or slicey shot. I did also pull a few. I have been told numerous times that my swing resembles Jim furyk...not sure how true that is but its what I have been told. It looks to me that I am still struggling with a OTT move...but I will await further feedback from the TST community.

You're going to have a hard time not hitting slices and hooks from these two positions:

01.jpg

It puts your elbows in a really tough position coming down.

02.jpg

Left arm out too far, right elbow/forearm twisting and torquing the club out over the top.

Thanks @iacas. What position should I work toward on the backswing to make it easier to transition on plane and not OTT? And when you say left arm outside do you mean away from my body in the downswing?

  1. Your elbow trajectories need to change substantially. See below.
  2. "Out" = "to the right" in a down-the-line video.

Left arms in, elbows on the opposite trajectory.

Thanks, I will make sure to utilize that properly next time. And wow yes that’s a very distinct difference from the angles in my swing. I have something to work on, much appreciated.

@SunkTheBirdie, I think he's aware. But we do appreciate the reminder(s).

Did some work this afternoon. Continuing to work on better elbow positions/angles. One thing that I have really been trying to engrain is a proper right elbow position in the backswing. I have been working on making sure that my elbow doesn't cross my shirt seam (Key #4 drill), and that has resulted in a more compact golf swing thus far. I am only 100+ swings into this, and have played one round of golf with it. I still feel like my angles need to improve more, but I think I am headed the right direction.

I just Deleted the video because the quality just dropped off for no reason. Looks great on the camera looks like crap on youtube.

Ok finally got the video to load properly. The Camera was at hip height, but my yard is severely graded so I had to walk up hill to hit the golf shot off of the flat spot. Please refer to the post above this one for details on what I have been working on.

Still setting up for some massive pulls and slices here. And the camera's still not in the best position.

Film some of your practice sessions. Let's see how you're trying to change this.

Roger that. About how long do you recommend filming the session? Just film some segments with me working on slower shorter swings?

Yes. From the right angle.

And get some face-on video too.

Alright pardon my stupidity but what do you mean here? Referring to camera picture or change my positions in the screenshots you took?
