Not being very good at the game of golf, generally shoot mid 90's, but able to get around the course and not slow anyone down.  But, i really do not feel comfortable when paired with a pretty good golfer because I always wonder how they feel when they get paired with someone like me.  Older guy, 69, and in good health.  How do you guys feel when you get paired with someone like me...?

Most of the guys I play with are retired or in their 60's and most of them shoot 84-85 on a bad day. So, I have wondered the same thing as you, i.e., am I holding these guys up, are they embarassed for me, etc... However, they seem to enjoy playing with me, and I think it's sincere. I bet people enjoy playing with you too.

My short answer is, I would really enjoy it if we were paired up. I don't give people's age a second thought. There is only one thing I really don't like from a playing partner, and that is free swing advice. It doesn't happen much anymore, but when I was averaging mid-90's, boy, everyone wanted to fix my swing. And all they did was make it worse. Much worse.

I play a ton of golf with gentlemen in your age range and abilities. Playing morning golf during the week, there's not anyone else to play with. :-P Someone can cuss like a sailor, throw clubs, I don't care about that. The only thing that bothers me is when someone struggles making solid contact and has to hit it 3-4 times to get to my ball every hole. That wears on me a bit, but since you score in the 90s that wouldn't happen so we would be just fine.

Now, I wouldn't classify myself as a better player, but I do play regular with several 16-20 handicap players and it never bothers me.  My main group consist of an 8.5, a 16, a 16, and me.  The 8.5 and me have our own little competition with each other, but because we enjoy playing with the other two it's never an issue.

The only thing that even comes close to being a bother is me constantly pulling for them to make shots that they probably don't make on a regular occasion so that they'll score really well (for their level) that day.  Only reason that would be a bother is when they end up messing up several of them I'm probably more disappointed they they are.

    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.
