I've been Playing Golf for: 4 months
My current handicap index or average score is: high. Over 110
My typical ball flight is: irons draw. Hybrids and up slice.
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is:  push slice. Fat shots.

I need some help with my swing especially driver. I started with a 230-250 carry with a usual block but sometimes straight. Now it’s a weak 190-210 that starts right and also slices 50 more yards. I’ve been hitting my irons well lately, but just can’t figure out the longer clubs. Need some advice for my setup/swing to give me a chance to play long courses (been playing pretty much all par 3 courses). I notice I dip in my backswing and lift in my downswing which probably contributes to my problem. Sorry for the poor video quality in advance. Just want some feedback thanks!

@Golfballz, I'd love to help out a bit, but the only down the line video doesn't even include all of you, and it's from a bad angle.

Take some good slow-motion video using those tips and camera alignments from the article. Hit a 6-iron, or your driver, but make sure the angles are good and that you can see all of you and the club.

I simply can't do much with this:

Yeah sorry. I’ll take some better videos this weekend. Is there a way to edit the original post so I can replace those videos with better ones ?

No, just post the better ones. Over time, the topic will show your improvement/changes.

Camera angles could still be better, and you could move up so you're larger in the frame. The down-the-line is not on the toe line.

You shoot over 110? I'm surprised. I think you have a pretty good action and I'd mostly focus on one thing right now, and then play a lot. Here's that one thing…

The lower body in many players will start before the upper body finishes the backswing, but yours happens REALLY early, and I think you're just new and things will get out of sync. So the one thing I'd focus on mostly is finish the backswing, maybe even feeling like it all kind of "collects" and "pauses" briefly at the top, and then starts down closer together.

Also, this shot goes right (and likely curves right), but it's tough to say whether it's from a shank or whether it's because the face is just wide open. It's definitely in the heel if it's not a shank.

Thanks for the tips. I’ve been working on my swing a lot lately and finally managed to beat bogey on a par 3 course, but haven’t been able to put it all together to score under 110 on a longer course yet. I’ll definitely work on what you mentioned near range session. I’m pretty sure I had a case of the shanks today beacause I was hitting the ball very poorly at the range today (even by my standards). I’ll keep updating this post as I try to progess. Thanks again !!! :)

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
