Recently listened to podcast advertising the Bridgestone Precept power drive balls and they seem like some decent balls for the price. Bought a box of 12 for less than $8. At this price point I'm willing to try since I suffer from distance and money, lol. Anybody have any opinions on this product. The reviews I've read is that they're comparable to the high end balls on distance but don't spin much around the green. I figured I'd give them a try since Bridgestone makes quality products. I've tried the e6 distance and they were wonderful off the tee. Nearly 300 yard drives.

Wow, 300 yard drives, you can use any damn ball you want. The cheaper balls, (I use Noodles), tend to go as far if not farther then the expensive balls, IMO, but they do suffer a little around the green. But I'm not that good a player to notice the difference so.... I've used Pro V1s and can't feel the difference around the green, probably cause my short game lets me down. And I don't feel any difference when putting. I also use the Chrome Soft and can't tell the difference.

Now I know I have just opened myself up to ridicule by those that swear by expensive balls, I hope you wont be that hard on me.

Those drives must not have been in rounds that you tracked in GameGolf. Those are some pretty far drives for a 16 hcp.

I haven't noticed a difference in distance from different balls, but I do notice a difference in how they feel on approach shots and putting. An older ball or a cheap ball like a noodle feels like a rock when I hit it, especially with wedges. I prefer softer feeling balls like the Supersoft and Chromesoft.

Less than $1 per ball I would have picked up a dozen to test out as well. certainly wont hurt anything.

Let us know your thoughts once you've played a few rounds with them!

I haven't posted any rounds on gamegolf yet since I just joined recently. I surprised myself on that particular drive though. It was a 380 yd par4 dogleg left. I know it was 300 because my approach shot was 80yd on a laser.

I've played both those tracks many times!  I typically play at Hawk's Creek.

Cool. I grew up as a kid in the Westover Hills just around the corner from that coarse.

A ball I play sometimes is the Wilson Duo. It is advertised as the softest ball on the market. I don't know about that but it is very soft. Distance is fine, feel is great. It does not quite have the response of a ProV1 around the green, but it is the softest feeling ball off a putter that I have used.

They are usually around the $20 price point. I bought some last year models at Dick's for about $8.
