I used to be on FGI a little, and for the past few years I have played very little golf. But now that I had shoulder surgery I'm looking to get back into the game. I've used to lurk on here, and I always liked the articles, so why not join.

Welcome.  Which shoulder?  I ask because, as a right-hander, I found recovering from a left shoulder injury both difficult and enlightening.

In der bag:

Lefty golfer, left shoulder. Seems not to affect the downswing, but my backswing is more limited now. Hard to keep right arm straight beyond parallel.

@TheWoat and @PizInterested in hearing from you guys about how long for recovery, when you were able to swing a club in practice, when you first played, what happened to you swings, etc etc. I'm in phys therapy for rotator cuff impingement in both shoulders (along with both hands, which were also injured). Thanks, -Marv

I had an impingement, calcification on rotator cuff. It got removed mid December. It felt great after three weeks, then during PT I tweaked my AC joint. Swinging driver is fine for now, will try partial wedges next week

My forward shoulder seemed to want to ride up and out of it's socket (not entirely true).  I had to do a lot of exercises to restore the normal range of motion.  Fortunately, for me, it wasn't a structural issue; just the result of sub-conscious compensation.  Happily...swinging a club actually helped...after time.

Thanks @TheWoatI'm 72 and any recovery will take awhile I suppose. The Doc is trying to avoid surgery with PT and it's doing pretty good. But it has been 7 weeks, and I'm antsy! He will decide soon I hope what he will recommend. Thanks again, -Marv
