This is not just happening in your area. Two courses in southern Nevada are discussing condos, and or single family residences. I even have a letter from my broker for a course back east going to housing as a possible investment. .

The two courses near me are nothing fancy, but are/were well used by the locals. Problem is there are not enough locals using them anymore.

One course has a several decades old agreement with the city, that states the golf course property will stay a golf course forever. Both the city officials, the corporation who donated the land back then , agreed to the contract. City officials today, are citing "eminant domain" , and the need to increase tax revenue from the donated property. That lack of paying customers, has also decreased expected revenue from the property.

It's becoming more apparent that some parts of the country are no longer supporting the game of golf, as much today, as they use to do. A sad situation indeed.
