Club Lender

I got an email from some company called "Club Lender" today. They are in California, and service only California. 

What they do is, they will rent you a complete set of clubs, including the bag. They will then drop ship the set to an address you provide. When you are done, you ship the clubs back to them.

They are targeting golfers visiting California, who do not want to haul their clubs. Them, and folks who want to try out a set of premium clubs. I think they three different brands of high end clubs available. The user can take their pick of club brands in different flexes. Not sure about lie angles.

I no longer have any desire to visit California, so it's a service I would not use. It does sound interesting however.

Interesting concept and certainly something that might be successful in CA.  Most airlines are charging at least $25 each leg of a trip.  I just looked at their website and PXG's rent for $200/day, Titleist, Callaway, and Taylormade $65-75.  So, factoring in not having to haul your own clubs through airports, the cost difference is reasonable.  $200 for PXG's... paleeeze.

I think those prices are just for the first day of use, and include the to, and from shipping charges. If you rent the clubs for more than one day, the extra days are less expensive, per day. I don't know anything about the PXGs, but $200 for day one does seem high.

Yes, it does include all shipping and subsequent days are about 1/3 less.  The PXG price aside, they must have one hellava deal going with FedEx. UPS, etc. to be able to make any profit.  All I know about PXG is that no one makes golf clubs like they do... period. Much like fly fishing, there is a high end market that sells though the disclaimer should be "we hope you enjoyed our business as much as we enjoyed giving it to you".
