We do a lot of regripping in our shop, and occasionally, using Brampton solvent, the butt ends simply never dry and set. In cooler seasons, clubs can sit for over a month and never set. Until this week, we never had this issue in our warm, low humidity summers. Anyone else figure out the cause of this? Never have a problem with Naptha. PS: We've ruled out the possible cause of too much solvent caught in the blob of tape tucked into the shaft butt, which we first suspected.

I don't use solvent. Or tape. Not double-sided tape anyway.

Sorry.

I've been using Brampton solvent for several years and I've had that happen once.  I pulled the grip, removed the tape, and started from scratch.  I've no idea why the butt-end didn't set the first time.  I did, however, use another grip the second time around so maybe the first one had an inconsistent core size.  That seems unlikely but it "solved" the issue.

I don't use bramptons for that exact reason.  The Taylormade irons I had I regripped using bramptons and ALL the butt ends were turning.  Never had that problem EVER before...but I always used either paint thinner or Golfsmith or Golfworks solvent without a problem.

Anyway, I took them off, started over again and used Golfsmith solvent and they were fine.
