It seems like every time I’m watching highlights on the golf channel Cam Champs driving distance comes up. Looking at the stats he’s averaging almost 20 yards more off the tee than the current PGA driving distance leader. He’s also hitting almost 20% more fairways than the current tour leader.  I would be interested to see how those numbers transfer to PGA events after graduating from the web.com tour.

For this week or in general?  Because I think they're up in the mountains on web.com tour this week, which affects driving distance.

I got his stats for the current web.com season on the PGA tour website.  He’s averaging 337.3 off the tee for the season.

He only leads by two yards on the web.com Tour. They have a lot of long drivers there. They generally come back when they get to the PGA Tour.

Whats the reason? Course layouts dont allow it?

A few reasons. Course setup, for one. And on the Web.com Tour you have to have the pedal to the metal, while on the PGA Tour it's more about making more pars and avoiding the big mistake.

In your opinion, would most PGA players likely have that similar distance capability if they wanted?

Many could, but perhaps with less control. I don't know about "most" or with the control he has.

Interesting.  So you’re saying that Web.com players simply play more aggressively because their goal is to finish near the top for the season to get their PGA tour card.  Conversely, on the PGA tour they are trying to avoid finishing near the bottom and lose their tour card, hence more conservative play.  I’m talking new or middling PGA tour players of course.
