I've been Playing Golf for: A couple of months
My current handicap index or average score is: 100+ Haven't played enough to establish yet.
My typical ball flight is: straight fade.
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: slice and thin

Videos:

These definitely aren't my 'best' swings, but I'm pretty inconsistent at this point, so they are pretty representative. I've been working with a pro on stopping my sway and getting proper weight transfer and hip turn.

I've bought LSW, and I know that my head moves too much, but it does move less than it did.

I'm also pretty sure my swing plane is all jacked up, I'm planning on moving to that topic with my Pro over our next few lessons.

Thanks for posting. I don't think your swing is too far off. You may be casting a bit, but the plane isn't that bad and neither is the sway or head movement.

I was casting a bit last year and what my instructor had me work on was starting with chips with 7 iron, driver, PW etc. Start with short swings and focus on Key 2 and 3, Weight forward at Impact and Flat left wrist or In-Line Impact where your hands are in front of the club head at impact. Make sure you start slow, then bring the speed up and the length of the backswing up. Contact will feel better.

I do this drill as I warm up before practicing. I use the feel of my right elbow staying out and forward of my right hip (this is sometimes referred to as 'pitch elbow') as my hip rotates. But you may have a different feel.

I think you're back on your heels at setup. Then you're failing to use your lower body during the backswing (which is why your arms and wrists have to do so much), and then again not on the downswing.

Yeah. The casting/chicken wing is actually a newer development. I’ll give the drill a try- it sounds straight forward enough. Thanks for the thoughts.

I am probably back too much. It’s probably an over correction. Before my first lesson with my new guy, I was so far away from the ball that I couldn’t reach to take a divot and was losing balance in my follow through. Do you think I need to move further from the ball, or should I just focus on loving the weight a little more balanced or more on the balls of my feet?

Still working in the lower body stuff. Weight shift is a problem. I was getting a lot of rotation, but I was hanging back really bad. I guess I’m still working on getting those feels ironed out.

Thanks for taking a look.

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
