I played today from tees that were 5900 yards....I like to play 5800 to 6000 yards...

3 GIR's...all par 3's

So if you are hitting 7 fairways and playing 5900 yards, providing you are getting at least 200+ on your drives, needing to move up tees wouldn't seem to be your solution.

From what you've said, 3 GIR's and 3 pars, 36 putts, 21 over par - you had at least 5 or 6 DB+.  It's about your short game.  I'd suggest that you start measuring GIR's +1 and work on your pitching / chipping to insure that you get on the green +1.  I don't know all of the stats, but in general, to break 90 most players are going to have to have 2-3 scramble pars.  It's also going to be hard to break 90 with that many DB's but improving your GIR+1 should help that.

My buddy and I both moved up to the gold tees last Summer. 5600-5800 is where we live now. Anything 6000 or over becomes a slugfest.

I had a heck of a time convincing my buddy to make the move. He thought he was still hitting his Driver 260-270 when he was NOT! You know what kind of drama can ensue when you try breaking that kind of news.

We were playing a round at a course that has the really sophisticated on-cart GPS. Still playing the whites, he hit his usual drive right down the middle. I asked him how far he thought that drive went, and said about 260-270! I told him to look at the little white box at the bottom of the screen when we reached his ball.

There's a box for each tee on the hole. They tell you how far from the tee you hit your drive. When we reached his ball the white box read 232! Next hole 229. A really good drive went 241!

I think that's what finally convinced him.

    • The MTB Prime and Prime X had issues with the cover being too soft and getting cut too easily. They said it was more prevalent in the Prime than the Prime X which I found odd because that was the exact opposite of my experience.
    • Day 120 - Played 18; much better than yesterday. Miss right now is off the heel of the club, so I need to sort that out.
    • Today we played Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH. Course was in great shape but my game didn't show up. I will say I pitched and chipped fairly well but almost everything else was very hit or miss. Cost myself a lot hitting an in play drive with pulling my approach shots maybe 85% of the time. Finally figured out I had been swaying most of the round. Only took me until 13 to figure it out. Used what felt like a much more centered turn and the ballstriking improved. 18 tomorrow using a 2 man scramble format. Just looking to contribute. Been a blast though.
