Are the strokes gained stats out?

As a devout Tiger fan, how do you not know where this is found, Colin? :-P

The SG stats are almost always updated live, as brocks explained. I think The Open is one of the rare instances where there's nothing there.

Tiger played pretty good, as his final score indicated. Putting became his worst stat, where he easily could have won with a few more made putts. Except if Rory made anything on Sunday. Then he'd be at -25 or something. Tiger's Friday was especially bad, losing 3.590 strokes to the field with the Scotty. His driving has certainly improved the last two tournaments. Ended up at 77% fairways hit last (and this) week. Fewer missed fairways and not as deep into the rough and trees. As usual, approaches to the green was his best stat.

His stats at the BMW might be a bit deceptive, because the waterlogged fairways kept the ball from rolling very far, if at all.  I remember seeing a couple of drives that plugged right where they hit, and would surely have gone into the rough with even a below average length roll.

That said, he does seem to be swinging more smoothly with the driver, and his misses are not as wild.   And even with all his putting and driving problems, he hasn't had a really bad tournament since June, and has had four really good ones, including two majors.

I don't think it's overly optimistic to assume that between now and next year he can gain consistency in his driving and putting, and sharpen up his short game, especially his sand play.  Doing that should be worth a couple of shots per round, and that's all he needs to win.

Yes, go here: https://www.pgatour.com/players/player.08793.tiger-woods.html/scorecards/r028

You can see them pretty much in real time during a tournament. Just go to the official PGA Tour leaderboard, e.g. https://www.pgatour.com/competition/2018/bmw-championship/leaderboard.html

and click on a player's name in the standings.  You'll see the expanded scorecard with shot tracker, etc.  From there, click on "Full Scorecard" and scroll down past the scorecards to see the strokes gained stats for that event.

Fantastic! Thanks bruv

Yeah, but even in that stat he lost strokes to the field on Friday, albeit minimally.

    • Fantastic selection! And very little driving between them. Fingers crossed the weather is good to you.
    • Day 20: 2026.01.22 Hit about twenty balls at the range. Quietly pleased with how the changes are bedding in, surprsingly consistent ball flight. Hoping to film over the weekend to capture new movement.
    • You might also consider a tune-up lesson. Check and see if anything in your set-up or basic swing is holding you back. I have been playing for more than five decades, but on occasion I've had to make swing tweaks due to age, loss of flexibility, etc. You don't have to reinvent your swing. A couple of static set-up changes might really help out.
    • Good advice. In general, you want to take whatever weight you are lifting to a couple of reps before failure, for muscle growth. There are other tactics for PT related stuff. I would trust your PT person.  For muscle growth, you can go like 30 reps to failure. It is tougher to gauge. Also, it takes 2x as long to do the same number of working sets per week if you are doing 15 instead. It is way less efficient, but your case is special because of the injury/aggravation to the hip.
    • Several years ago I got paired with a twosome of golfers, one of which had a maybe 5-year-old son with him. The kid had a putter and a 7i with him, and on some holes he would drop a ball near the green, chip on, and putt. If the kid started to get distracted, the dad would ask, "Do you need to rest?" The kid would nod yes, and then take his dad's seat riding in the cart for a couple of holes. It was a slow day, and the kid was polite and friendly. We got through 18 just fine. (If it had been a crowded course day, I'm sure it would have been less pleasant.)
