I had my Titleist 915 driver cut to 44.5 in. The guy who did it replaced a 50 g grip with a 56 gr grip. The swing weight  went from d2 -d0. if i put another 50 gr grip, how will it affect the swing wight?

If you make the grip lighter, the swing weight will go down. 6 grams may bring you down 1 to 2. You can add weight the the shaft to compensate.

The opposite, man. Swing weight gets "heavier."

So if I go back to a 50 Gr grip, the swing weight will be about a C8, and i would need about 10 grams of weight in the head to get to D2?

If your driver is now D0 with a 56g grip and you put a 50g grip on it, very approximately it'll increase the swingwieght to D1. I would weigh the grips as well and wouldn't assume they're all 50g with the manufacturing tolerances.  I have seen as much as 3 grams difference between identical model grips which will obviously impact on the balance of the club.

4 grams in the grip equals 1 swing weight point change. 2 grams in the head equals 1 swing weight point change in the opposite direction. Are you sure about that grip weight though. Usually cutting a half inch will lose 3 SW points so assuming your driver started at 45 at the longest, you should have lost 4.5 SW points with that grip weight.

You could be corrrect, Adam C.I checked the specs again.. The Tacki Mac Tour Prop standard wrap is 56 grams, according to Golf Works, but Grips 3 Less says it's 51 gr.

I changed ther head weight from 11 grams to 17 grams, and it comes in right at D3.. I'm still gong to change the grip back to my Lamkin Crossline, as i prefer the feel of that grip, and have it on all my clubs.

UPDATE

After replacing the Tackii Mac wrap with a 50gr Lamkin Black  Crossline, the club weighs in at D 2 1/2. I hit balls and played it this week,  Was amazed at the difference 1/2" makes. Control is so much better and am making much better solid contact. No change in distance, but then I wasn't getting much distance  any way. I'm glad i decided to cut the driver down.
